La Maravilla

The story

La Maravilla was established in 1997 by Guillermo Rosales and his son, Mauricio, after they purchased the land in the Huehuetenango region. The farm began with only three coffee plants and was initially accessible only by a narrow horse path. Today, the farm continues as a family-run operation with Mauricio and his son, Luis, managing the estate.

Challenges

The farm is located in a remote and rugged area of the Huehuetenango mountains, which originally presented significant accessibility issues requiring the construction of roads.

Innovations

The Rosales family has focused on progressive coffee production by constructing their own wet mill, building drying patios, and implementing sustainable practices such as forest preservation and water treatment.
