Sharbo Maro

The story

Sharbo Maro was born into a coffee-farming family and established his own farm in 2015. Located in the Mokonisa kebele of Wenago, the farm spans 16 hectares, with half dedicated to coffee production. He is a member of the Jabanto Farmers Group, a collective formed in 2017 to help smallholder farmers export their coffee.

Challenges

Purchasing coffee from a single farmer in Ethiopia remains relatively rare due to logistical and structural barriers. Sharbo Maro is notable for being one of the few members of the Jabanto group with the specific equipment and space required to process washed coffee.

Innovations

The farm focuses on improving quality through refined agronomic practices and post-harvest processing techniques. By working with the Jabanto Farmers Group, the farm has gained the infrastructure necessary to produce high-quality, export-ready single-farmer lots.
