JARC 74112

A named Ethiopian Arabica selection from JARC's 1974 program, not a generic heirloom label.

Where did it come from?

JARC 74112, also called Serto 74112, was selected from Ethiopian forest material during the 1974 JARC selection program and released for cultivation because of its agronomic performance and resistance to coffee berry disease.

What does it tend to taste like?

Highly dependent on origin and processing; clean washed examples can show citrus, stone fruit, tea-like florals, and chocolate.

Plant characteristics

An Ethiopian JARC selection used by smallholders and washing-station communities. Verve identifies it as the primary cultivar in its Wanja Kersa Espresso lot.

Why producers grow it

Its coffee berry disease resistance, yield potential, and established cup quality make it useful to Ethiopian smallholders.
