El Puente

The story

Marysabel Caballero is a fourth-generation coffee producer whose family began farming coffee in 1906. She and her husband, Moises Herrera, established Finca El Puente in the 1990s. The couple manages their operation in the Marcala region, building upon a legacy of high-quality production previously established by Marysabel's father, Fabio Caballero.

Challenges

The farm has faced significant climate-related obstacles, including severe frost during the 2025 harvest that damaged approximately 50% of the crop. These conditions necessitated intensive sorting processes to maintain quality standards.

Innovations

The farm operates its own modern wet and dry mills, allowing for complete control over processing from harvest to export. They are currently transitioning away from agro-chemicals and synthetic fertilizers toward biological solutions, including the use of shade trees and soil microorganisms.
