Finca Nueva Alianza

The story

Finca Nueva Alianza is located in the Santa Teresa district of Cusco, Peru. It is managed by Dwight Aguilar Masias, who is a third-generation coffee producer. Aguilar originally intended to study agricultural engineering but turned to coffee farming due to financial constraints, eventually becoming a two-time Cup of Excellence winner.

Challenges

The producer faced significant financial hardship early in his career, which prevented him from pursuing his original educational goals. Developing the farm into its current state required a great amount of effort and persistence.

Innovations

Dwight Aguilar Masias is recognized for his experimentation with prized coffee varieties, including being credited as the first to cultivate the Yellow Geisha mutation. He has achieved national recognition by winning the Peru Cup of Excellence twice, in 2018 and 2021.
