Harmufo

The story

Harmufo is a coffee-growing area located in the Gedeb district of Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. Historically, coffee from this high-elevation region was not processed as a standalone lot but was instead blended into larger regional selections, such as Halo Hartume. Recent efforts by exporters have enabled the isolation of specific high-elevation cherries from this area to be marketed as distinct lots.

Challenges

The primary challenge for this area has been the historical lack of visibility for its specific high-elevation output, as its coffee was traditionally consolidated into broader regional blends.

Innovations

Recent innovations involve the successful isolation of high-elevation cherries from Harmufo into distinct microlots, utilizing specific processing techniques like underwater fermentation and shade-drying to highlight unique cup profiles.
