Editorial illustrationWhat does peach mean in coffee?
Does coffee contain peach?
In unflavored coffee, peach is generally a sensory comparison. For infused or fruit-co-fermented coffee, check disclosed ingredients and methods.
Why can coffee taste like peach?
A coffee's combined aromatics, acidity and perceived sweetness can remind a taster of peach. The impression alone cannot identify a lactone, roasting pathway or other specific cause.
Where might people describe this note?
Peach-like notes may appear in descriptions of individual lots. The descriptor alone does not identify Gesha, Pink Bourbon, altitude or processing method.
How to taste for peach
Smell ripe or dried peach separately if available, then smell dry coffee and the brewed cup. Taste at a comfortably warm temperature and again as the cup cools. Compare peach with apricot and mango, and distinguish aroma from perceived sweetness and acidity. Use the descriptor only when it helps communicate what you perceive; it is not evidence of a particular aroma compound, variety, altitude or processing method.

Your peach tasting notebook
Can you actually perceive a peach-like note? Brew a plain coffee, then describe it in three stages. Write your own impressions before reading the tasting notes on its bag. A descriptor is not evidence of a coffee's origin, ingredients, processing, or quality.
- Smell the freshly ground coffee. Describe what you notice without guessing the coffee's origin.
- Smell and carefully sip the brewed coffee after it is comfortable to taste. Notice aroma, acidity, sweetness and texture.
- Try the cup again as it cools. Does the descriptor become clearer, fade or change? Compare your notes.
Notes stay in this browser's local storage until cleared; they are not submitted, scored, published or used as evidence for our reviews. For professional methodology see the SCA flavor-wheel guide.
Peach in coffees we've documented.
Examples are selected from at most 80 recently updated matching coffee profiles, 40 exact-match outside reviews and 40 exact-coffee internet references. The numbers below describe this bounded sample, not a complete sitewide total. Zero means no matches in the sampled records, not that none exist elsewhere.

How we use sources
This is our editorial description of a sensory comparison. The independent SCA/WCR materials below explain how tasters develop a shared vocabulary; they do not verify the particular coffee origins, biochemical causes, processing methods or frequency claims on this page.
No descriptor-specific research citation has been verified for this entry yet. Treat specific causal and origin associations as editorial guidance, not as scientifically established facts.
