Finca La Hermosa

The story

Finca La Hermosa was established in 2010 by Max and Claudia Perez, a husband-and-wife team who met while studying law. Max is a multi-generational coffee producer who sought to build his own farm, eventually acquiring a 320-hectare property on the slopes of the Acatenango volcano that had been abandoned for 30 years.

Challenges

The farm was acquired as an abandoned property with low-productivity trees, requiring significant rehabilitation to become a productive specialty coffee estate.

Innovations

The owners have focused on diversifying their crop by experimenting with a wide range of coffee varieties and utilizing specialized processing techniques like dual processing to enhance cup quality.
