Villa Betulia

The story

Villa Betulia is a family-run estate in Acevedo, Huila, founded by the father of current producer Luis Anibal Calderon. Luis began his journey as a 12-year-old farm worker and eventually took over a small plot at age 15, which he expanded into the current 40-hectare farm. The estate is now managed by Luis alongside his son, Yeisson, and Aley Calderón, representing the continuation of the family legacy.

The farm operates in a region where maintaining high-quality production requires significant investment in exotic varietals and experimental processing techniques to remain competitive.

Innovations

The farm is recognized for its role as a curator of rare coffee varieties, including mutations and hybrids, and for its use of advanced processing techniques such as extended anaerobic fermentation and the use of grainpro bags during fermentation.
