Finca El Injerto

Finca El Injerto is a landmark coffee estate located in the La Libertad region of Huehuetenango, Guatemala. Founded in 1874 by Jesús Aguirre Panamá, the farm originally focused on sugarcane, corn, beans, and tobacco. It was not until approximately 1900 that the estate began its transition into coffee production, taking its name from a fruit native to the region. Today, the farm is managed by the third and fourth generations of the Aguirre family, specifically Arturo Aguirre Sr. and Arturo Aguirre Jr., who continue to oversee operations with a focus on environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

The farm is situated in the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes, benefiting from a unique microclimate characterized by mineral-rich, non-volcanic soil, an average altitude between 1,500 and 1,920 meters, and consistent annual precipitation. This terroir, combined with meticulous processing standards, has allowed the estate to produce a diverse range of high-quality cultivars. While the farm maintains a broad portfolio of varieties, it is particularly celebrated for its Royal Bourbon, Pacamara, Maragogype, and Geisha, each processed to highlight the distinct characteristics of the land.

El Injerto’s reputation is anchored in its extraordinary performance in the Cup of Excellence (COE), the most prestigious competition for green coffee. The farm holds the distinction of being the only producer in the world to have won first place in the Cup of Excellence eight times. These victories, spanning from 2006 to 2015, solidified the estate's status as a global leader in specialty coffee production and consistently set record-breaking prices at international auctions.
