As a member of the Bourbon-Typica genetic group, it shares the lineage of the original Arabica varieties that spread globally from Yemen. Its discovery marked a significant moment in coffee agronomy, as the plant exhibits a compact, dwarf growth habit that distinguishes it from the taller, traditional Bourbon plants from which it descended.
