The story
Finca La Fany is managed by the Silva family, who have been involved in coffee production for multiple generations. The farm has been a recognized name in the specialty coffee industry since at least 2005, when it appeared in the El Salvador Cup of Excellence auction.
Challenges
The farm operates within the Apaneca-Ilamatepec region, which has faced significant pressure from coffee leaf rust, a common issue for producers in El Salvador.
Innovations
The farm utilizes its own mill, Beneficio San Pedro, to maintain strict quality control through lot separation by picking date and variety. Additionally, the farm participates in sustainable practices such as transferring coffee pulp to vermicompost tanks for decomposition.
