Typica Mejorado
An Ecuadorian Arabica variety commonly called Typica Mejorado. Despite the trade name, SEY reports that genetic testing attributes it to a Bourbon variety cross-pollinated with an Ethiopian landrace rather than to Typica. Farm identity and naming should still be verified lot by lot.
Where did it come from?
Typica Mejorado became associated with high-quality Ecuadorian specialty lots. Abel Salinas Pacheco’s washed Typica Mejorado from Arashi, Loja, tied for first in the 2021 Ecuador Cup of Excellence at 90.39 points.
What does it tend to taste like?
Lot-specific rather than guaranteed. SEY’s washed Arashi lot is described with soft florals, peach and lemon.
Plant characteristics
A formal public agronomic specification was not found in the reviewed sources; the commercial name should not be treated as proof of Typica lineage.

Chosen by quality-focused Ecuadorian producers for high cup potential and a transparent expression in washed processing.
