Marysabel Caballero and Moises Herrera produce this La Tortuga selection in Chinacla, La Paz. Intelligentsia has worked with them through Direct Trade since 2003 and says the current release marks 30 years since the couple began their coffee journey together.
Intelligentsia classifies this special selection in its Bright roast category. The roaster describes complex citrus, warming spice, and delicate florals and lists preserved lemon, baking spice, and magnolia.
Batian was developed in Kenya, and this release documents the cultivar as a named, traceable selection adapted to Honduran conditions. It also revives the La Tortuga name first used in 2004 for coffee from Marysabel's father, Don Fabio.

Other roasters, same producer.
These coffees come from the same producer or farm, offered by other roasters. We never automatically declare two offerings the exact same coffee — a match requires lot, harvest and traceability details. Even a true same-lot pair can taste different: roast approach, freshness, rest and brewing all reshape the cup.
