Its genetic lineage traces back to the Sarchimor family, which is a hybrid cross between the Villa Sarchi variety and the Hibrido de Timor (HdT). The Hibrido de Timor is notable for its partial Robusta ancestry, which provides the genetic foundation for the increased resilience found in the Parainema plant. Specifically, Parainema is a pedigree selection derived from the T5296 line, a plant known for its rust resistance but historically criticized for its lack of generational stability. Through the work of IHCAFE, Parainema was refined into a stable, productive variety for Honduran farmers.
